SPACE BOWLING
IN LIMASSOL, CYPRUS

In the year 2000, the project “SPACE BOWLING” was completed and the most modern Bowling centre of the island was built with a modern style and innovative materials.

 

OPERA Srl, has been present on the Cypriot market for several years and it has a large number of partners there.

Thanks to the top quality of the OPERA Srl products, the local experts have successfully suggested the use of these products to architects and building companies for the most representative projects of this extraordinary island.  Our materials have been used to cover facades (in natural stone) of the Ministry of Labour and Communications, some E&S supermarkets, and other projects, both public and private.

 

For the over 3,500 sq m of surface covered in stoneware and natural stones, our products were used as for the preparation of the bearing structures.

For the external facades 30x60 polished stoneware was used, manufactured by the Spanish company Porcellanatto.  AQUARIA FLEX was used to lay this material, a two part super adhesive specific for laying any type of ceramic tile (single firing, double firing, stoneware and natural stones) on facades even higher than 9 meters and also for large formats.  SIGILCOLOR was used to fill the joints, suitable for grouting of external surfaces, waterproof and frost resistant.

  

Opposite the main entrance there is a large stairway which is covered only with granite, the most exclusive material offered by Nature.  For the laying of the granite, the firm that carried out the work used SPM UNIVERSAL a product suitable for laying natural stones of any size.  SPM UNIVERSAL can be used for floors and thanks to its thixotropy it can also be used on walls and the materials laid will not slide. SIGILCOLOR in the colour n° 30 (cement grey) was used to fill the joints.  Expansion joints were made every 20 sq m to absorb in the best possible way the movements caused by changes in temperature using ELASTOGUM COLABILE in the cement grey colour combined with SIGILCOLOR.  The foundation was levelled using PLANIRAPID AUTOLIVELLANTE MAXI a fast drying self levelling product with controlled shrinkage suitable for levelling superficial bearing structures up to 30 mm of thickness.

Inside the building, the architect has created a sober and elegant environment in a practical and modern style, where there are a large bar, a counter and some tables and a very large bowling space with 10 lanes where champions and amateurs can challenge each other.

In these premises, the screeds were prepared using BASECEM PRONTO a fast drying mixture of hydraulic binders and selected gap-graded aggregates with  controlled shrinkage.  Thanks to its characteristics, BASECEM PRONTO is very suitable for large jobs where the work must be carried out at a fast pace because with this product it is possible to lay any type of ceramic tile after only 24 hours.

As the surface in question was very wide – more than 1,000 sm., expansion and perimetric  joints were created every 25 sm using cement grey ELASTOGUM COLABILE.
The work was completed using PLANIRAPID AUTOLIVELLANTE which is suitable for levelling horizontal and vertical bearing structures up to 5 mm thick and then the 30 x 60 polished stoneware was laid.
The stoneware was laid using RT UNIVERSAL, a one part flexible adhesive suitable for laying any type of ceramic tile, klinker tiles and stoneware.  RT UNIVERSAL is suitable for use on both floors and walls and the floors can be grouted after only 24 hours.  The high quality of this product guarantees a perfect job even for particular applications.
